We have been in Huaraz for about a week now. Even though we are still in Peru, things are still different and new. Last month, toward the end of my time in Trujillo, I had finally gotten used to the schedule. I figured out when I would do my quiet time with The Lord, when I could read just for fun and when I would be going to ministry and which specific ministry.

Now, things are quite different. Last month, I would spend time in Scripture after lunch most days, and now that’s not really an option. We have free time in the day at completely different times of the day than last month and we have a new schedule that I have to get used to. However, I’m still really excited for the month and to jump into a new ministry.

This month ministry is with the Quechua people. In our first two days we spent time learning a few worship songs in both Spanish and Quechua. The rest of the month we will be visiting markets, schools, churches, and villages in the surrounding area. We will be sharing testimonies, singing our Quechua songs, preaching, selling Bibles translated to Quechua, and praying with people.

On Wednesday I got to visit a village and a church where we sang a couple songs (10 Thousand Reasons and Open The Eyes of My Heart Lord). Unfortunately, I was starting to not feel well, got sick and missed out when my team visited the market, a school, and a village over the next couple days. While they did that, I stayed at home resting and healing. Thank God I’m finally feeling much better, but prayers are still appreciated.

Check out the pictures below to see where my team and I are living this month and the things I am thankful for!

This is the house we are living in this month! I’m thankful for the gorgeous view from outside.

The wall I took the last picture from. I’m thankful I was able to get up high enough to actually see the view from above the house.

My room for the month, there are 4 bedrooms in the house. (One is a master with a bathroom in it.. I’m thankful for hot showers!). We Are only using 3 of the rooms with 2 of us in each. Yes.. I did make my bed just for the picture.. anyway I’m thankful for the warm blankets on the bed as it gets a bit chilly overnight.

I have a closet in the room as well. I’m definitely not the most organized person but I am thankful for the space to put the few clothes that I have with me 🙂

The kitchen. I’m thankful for hot tea and clean water.

Dining area. I’m thankful for naked noodles and soup juice (aka top ramen, which has been pretty much all I’ve eaten the past couple days.. but I love it)

Living room. I’m thankful for a projector we got to use so I could watch movies with my friends when I wasn’t feeling well.

Laundry this month is done by hand washing. I’m thankful I learned how to do this when I was in Kenya. (It’s really not hard but I’m still thankful this wasn’t my first time doing it..)

Thanks for reading!

Blessings,

Kaci (although my name for this month is Leena because Kaci is too hard for them to say.. my host tried to say it and she called me crazy instead of Kaci lol).

I also deeply appreciate how you expressed the things you felt thankful for despite hardships, and learn about what you are doing! Dear God, please keep Kaci and the whole squad healthy as they adjust to constant changing diets, environments, and water! In Jesus’ name, amen.
